How can i give myself highlights and lowlights by myself?

I usually do my hair by myself but i want something new and look like a more natural light blonde because it used to be very bright but now my natural hair is a very dark blonde and i hate it! Its so boring without my old hair! But you know as you grow older it'll jut get darker till it turns white or grey! D;
