Is the UK a democracy?

Democracy.I hear this term time & time again.But what is this apparent democracy that is proclaimed relentlessly to be the first in all the world? Is it the oppurtunity to tick a box with a 50/50 chance of seeing either conservative or labour party acheiving power!? Is it to see the same breed of people assume power again and again who's ideas have been proven to be fundamentally flawed over the course of many decades or even centuries.That is not democracy, nor such a system ever be democratic.If this is democracy then you give me a competent dictator and let him ber as autocratic as possible.
